FIS member Overbury is proud to be sponsoring the UK’s first Mental Health World Cup football tournament, which hopes to raise awareness and vital funds for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) charity.

The tournament will be held on 12 May 2019 at QPR’s Loftus Road Stadium and aims to bring hundreds of people from the property and construction industries together for a fun and informative day. There will be 20 five-a-side teams from within the property and construction industries. So if you want to get involved, there are opportunities to sponsor the event as well as play with a team.

CALM is leading a movement against male suicide and FIS is proud to have partnered with this charity to raise money at its awards lunches. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, and in the UK the suicide rate in construction is more than three-times higher than the general public. It’s time to tackle mental health issues in the construction industry.

Paul Brazier, commercial director at Overbury said “The health and wellbeing of our employees and subcontractors is of the upmost importance. We are proud to be supporting this event in aid of CALM and the vital work they do. We challenge everyone in the industry to get involved and help raise much-needed funds for CALM, as well as increase awareness of mental health within our industry.”

“This event is designed to bring men and football together to raise awareness and start conversations around mental health,” said Giancarlo Gaglione, founder of the Mental Health World Cup.

“With the construction sector highlighted as the sector most at risk of suicide, partnering with the industry is a great fit. It’s great to have Overbury sponsoring the Mental Health World Cup, as well as other industry partners and suppliers,” said Gaglione.
