David Rintoul

Partner, Hill Dickinson

David gave a lawyers take on the Building Safety Act and how it would be interpreted.  He emphasised the importance of understanding new liabilities, potential causes of delay and aligning insurance to the time periods linked to the Defective Premises Act.

He drew out the gateways and what information will be required to be made available to support a new and more intrusive Building Control process and to support the legal requirements to manage handover.

In the question session it was noted that companies should ensure that they review contracts to identify design and delay risk to ensure that they are not absorbing too much and understand the risks that they are signing up to.
