Vita Pebble Mill, Birmingham
The Project
Located on the site of the former BBC Pebble Mill studios on the Pershore Road, the development comprises of 358 Bed Student Accommodation high-specification, self-contained studios. This building also boasts a large Community Hub with study rooms, a gaming room, a cinema and a gym.
DCL used its experience and knowledge to assist Morgan Sindall from the outset. The company knew that the logistics would be key – as it often is on a Student Accommodation project. With the amount of material and work required in a short space of time DCL had to think outside the box to deliver this project on time and in budget. The answer to this was to Pre-Load the building with Plasterboards and utilise the crane as the Slabs were going up the building, not only reducing cost, but reducing the programme that Morgan Sindall had set out and handed the building over four weeks ahead of program.
For this project DCL secured a regional HS award and has been nominated for a national quality award with Morgan Sindall.
