The Project

Pacy and Wheatley were invited by Kipling Contracts UK Ltd to tender for the installation of a specialist acoustic ceiling at Siemens Mobility’s £100 million state-of-the-art factory in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Siemens has been based in Chippenham for over 125 years, and this new facility represents a significant investment in the town’s long standing rail engineering heritage. The development will be constructed at SouthPoint Business Park and is designed to serve as a centre of excellence for next generation conventional and digital rail signalling and control technologies.

The integrated campus will bring together manufacturing and engineering, reinforcing Siemens’ commitment to innovation and sustainability. It also represents a significant investment in the growth of the UK rail industry.

Scope of Works

Following detailed discussions and design meetings, Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics were appointed to install over 1,600 m² of Rockfon Mono Acoustic throughout the corridors and communal areas of the project.

Rockfon Mono Acoustic was selected for its outstanding acoustic performance, providing Class A sound absorption to effectively control reverberation and reduce unwanted background noise. The result was a noticeably calmer, more comfortable environment. Alongside its acoustic properties, the system was chosen for its clean, modern and elegant appearance. Its seamless finish complemented the building’s overall design, demonstrating that high-performance acoustic solutions can be incorporated without compromising on aesthetics. Sustainability was also an important consideration for the project. Manufactured with recycled materials and designed to provide long-lasting performance, Rockfon Mono Acoustic supported the vision of the client wanting to a more environmentally responsible approach to building design and specification.

The installation was completed successfully and, throughout the project, Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics worked closely with the Kipling Contracts Ltd site team to ensure the works progressed smoothly and to the required standard. The excellent collaboration between all parties contributed to a seamless installation and a high-quality finished result.

Everybody from Pacy and Wheatley thoroughly enjoyed working on the project and look forward to collaborating with Kipling Contracts Ltd again in the future!
