Scope of Works

  • Achieve ABTT GN20 compliance for live theatre in central London
  • Work closely with theatre management team on site
  • Theatre to remain open at all times
  • Work in ceiling void with full compliance with working at heights regulation
  • Full body harness training
  • Confined spaces training
  • Design new ceiling restraint systems using alpha plaster polymer-based products
  • New multi axial glass reinforcing for back ceiling lamination
  • Work closely with consulting Engineer on existing roof and ceiling structure for ceiling conservation designs
  • Review of control of asbestos regulation, health and safety at work act
  • Out of hours works , night works weekend working to accommodate busy theatre schedule
  • Value engineering to over come access challenges for access to face of ceiling
  • L&R worked closely with Unusual rigging to provide suspended platforms hung from the roof structure, these works required major planning works with client and engineer to arrange
  • Theatre closure during programme of works, programme compliance as next show was booked and ticket sold within short time period.
  • Face of ceiling inspection, ceiling conservation works, redecoration all completed on time
  • On going annual ceiling inspections resulting in removal of old sand lime ceilings and replacement with traditional/modern plasters.
  • Major Construction refurbishment in 2019 resulting in forming of new air conditioning systems into Historical ceilings.
  • Removal of existing ceiling support systems to create free space for supply grilles and service routes-all works carried out whilst theatre was live.
  • Further use of specialist flying carpets access systems supported from roof structure in close co-ordination with Unusual rigging and structural engineer
  • Working closely with Principle Contractor to ensure all historical finishes were co-ordinated with new construction works
  • Value engineering used for cost savings on scaffolding and access systems for working in ceiling void
  • Full design interface with CAD surveys, drawings and scanning of Theatre ceilings
  • On going ceiling inspection and assessment of historical ceilings after construction works for condition surveys
  • Attendance to assist with installing sound bar systems for new show, 30 openings in listed ceilings to be carried out in 2 weeks before show opened, many ceiling finishes involved.
  • All surveys in compliance with Technical Standards For place of entertainment-ABTT guidance Note 20 and Historic England Guidance on Fibrous Plaster.
  • Further restoration of theatre with planned reinstatement of all decorative plaster ornamentation back to original designs circa 1903 planned for future with L&R to provide consultancy, conservation and model making and artistic design works.
