Molecular Sciences Building, Birmingham
The Project
The £56 million flagship Molecular Sciences project undertaken for Morgan Sindall will provide a designated hub for the University’s Schools of Chemistry, and Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES). The Molecular Sciences building will strengthen core research capabilities in the chemical, environmental and biomolecular sciences, fostering an environment for carrying out world-class research and education, with a split of state of the art laboratory and offices spaces.
Some dynamic and unique suspended ceilings designed by Associated Architects and manufactured by OWA UK.
Suspended ceiling systems within the building provide a variety of aesthetically pleasing, acoustic solutions to office areas and perforated metal ceiling tiles to assist with air balancing and anti bacterial requirements in laboratory areas, sat within British Gypsum MF ceiling margins.
The main feature winding staircase has copper metal ceiling tiles to the underside, which tie in nicely with the perforated corridor bulkhead panels and bespoke tubular ceiling system sat within the office corridor areas.
