Hotel Russell, London

The Project
Hotel Russell is a luxury hotel Grade II Listed Building in Russell Square – in the heart of Bloomsbury, London. The hotel has been welcoming guests since 1900 to its Art Deco reception rooms and opulent public areas, including the stunning dining areas – The Palm Court & Banqueting Hall.
In April 2016 it closed for an £85 million refurbishment and re-opened in Spring of 2018 and was renamed Principal London. The suite and bedroom re-designs are guided by the expertise of Tara Bernard and Partners.
Our work was part of a collaboration with many on-site partners to restore this opulent hotel – retaining and upholding its 5-star glamorous reputation.
Our work at the 5-star Hotel Russell included plaster restoration and remodelling of extremely ornate plaster ceilings and walls. We replicated and reinstated intricate ornate ceilings, cornice (to 340 bedrooms), ornate columns and pilasters to Guestroom, Public Areas and Front of House.
We were privileged to work on the restoration of the Palm Court and Banqueting Hall where we manufactured, modelled and installed fibrous plaster beam cases to replicate originals, manufactured and installed fibrous plaster corbels to replicate originals and manufactured, modelled and installed fibrous plater Cartouches which formed part of the ceiling perimeter.
