The Project

In a demonstration of exceptional innovation and collaborative expertise, our project pioneered the development of fire-rated curved corridor walls with deflection head, utilizing British Gypsum systems. The unique and intricate nature of this project demanded a novel approach, as the traditional systems available at the time did not cater to curved structures. Through a harmonious collaboration between (FIL), (TDC), (SRM), and fire consultants, we successfully devised an innovative solution, elevating fire safety standards and revolutionizing the industry.

The challenge lay in constructing curved corridor walls that not only maintained the architectural elegance of the curves but also adhered to stringent fire safety requirements, achieving a 30min fire rating. Our vision was to seamlessly integrate fire-rated systems while upholding the desired curvature, a testament to the marriage of form and function.

In the absence of a tested system by British Gypsum for curved fire-rated walls, our collaborative effort began by benchmarking a typical fire-rated British Gypsum system. Working closely with all stakeholders, including British Gypsum, we meticulously upgraded the system’s specifications to meet the unique demands of our project. Through extensive reviews and feedback from all parties involved, we tailored and refined the system to align with the project’s exact requirements.

This innovative collaboration yielded a tailored fire-rated British Gypsum system, specially designed to accommodate the curved corridor walls with deflection head, ensuring compliance with the stringent 30min fire rating. The adaptability and versatility of the system were paramount, allowing us to seamlessly integrate fire safety measures into the distinctive design, transcending the limitations of conventional offerings.
The successful implementation of this pioneering solution has set a new benchmark in the realm of fire safety and architectural innovation. Our submission for awards aims to celebrate this exceptional collaboration, highlighting the transformative impact of teamwork, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. This project stands as a shining example of how collaboration and innovation can elevate industry standards, furthering the cause of safety and design excellence.
