The Project
Having been awarded the contract with Balfour Beatty following a competitive tender process, we were brought into the design process to provide a cost-effective and programme efficient solution to assist with overall project delivery.
Once the specification process was concluded, we commenced works on a 47 week programme that turned into a three year contract, with 95% of works undertaken being a variation to contract.
Over the course of the project we installed some 15,000m² lime plaster to the hard, to Savolit Woodwool boards and to curved rib-lath substrates. We sent staff over to Italy to be trained on the application process of Diathonite Insulating Plaster, and subsequently applied over 500m² to stair areas. We executed over 1000m² skim coat to barrel vaulted ceilings. We installed 625 Lm of cornices – both plain moulded and enriched.
At its peak we had 12 tradesmen, 4 apprentices and 3 general operatives on site, with additional training in First Aid, SSSTS, SMSTS, PASMA, Banksman and Asbestos Awareness being undertaken over the course of the contract.
