Bank Street, London
The Project
Bank Street is a commercial reception project within Canary Wharf. Adamson’s, the architectural designers, devised a unique and innovative GRG wall, presenting varying dimensions as you walked by.
Simplicity Specialist Finishes pitched a manufacturing design where the workshop laid down a 7.5m long fin and incorporated the free-issue bronze plates to ensure final fit and finish before starting manufacture. Following this, three individual moulds were taken, and three GRG sections were produced to be installed on-site. SFS walls were designed to support the fins with an 18mm ply facing. There were several walls, ranging from 8 to 40 fins on each. Installation went smoothly, with any foreseeable problems being eradicated before the manufacturing process. Minimal snags were carried out and completed promptly.
Speaking on the project, Lavon Jackson of Commercial Stone reflected,
‘The Simplicity team gave us a professional standard of workmanship, as has always been consistently provided over the years. From modelling and design through to final installation, Simplicity managed to achieve all that was required alongside other finishes and gave us what has been regularly commented on as one of the best reception lobbies on Canary Wharf.
The honour of this award is distinctly deserved.’
