Avon Street, Bristol
The Project
V&D Interiors delivered the drylining works at Avon Street, Bristol, a major purpose-built student accommodation development comprising 447 bedrooms across three blocks and extending up to 12 storeys.
The scale of the package was substantial, incorporating approximately 219,367 linear metres of metal framing, 86,358m² of plasterboard and 19,620m² of insulation. The works incorporated 13 different wall types, requiring careful coordination across all three blocks to maintain consistent setting out, wall and ceiling lines, levels and junctions.
The highly constrained site presented a significant logistical challenge, with minimal storage and material-handling space, a main road bounding the site and the River Avon to the rear.
V&D implemented a just-in-time delivery strategy to control the significant volume of materials entering the project while maintaining progress. As logistics became increasingly constrained, V&D introduced an additional forklift to support material movements and relieve pressure on the site logistics operation.
Working collaboratively with GMI, British Gypsum and OP Systems, V&D coordinated labour, deliveries, material distribution and multiple construction systems to successfully deliver this substantial package across all three blocks.
