Suspended Ceiling Installation Competency Framework
The Suspended Ceilings Competency Framework establishes a clear benchmark for the knowledge, skills, experience, and behaviours expected of installers working on suspended ceiling systems. It promotes a consistent approach to competence across the sector, helping to ensure installations are carried out safely, to a high standard, and in accordance with recognised industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
The framework identifies the capabilities required to undertake suspended ceiling installation activities, including planning and setting out, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, installing suspended ceiling systems and associated components, coordinating with other trades and building services, maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards, carrying out quality assurance inspections, and achieving recognised qualifications.
It also defines expectations for maintaining competence through continuing professional development (CPD) and periodic revalidation.
By providing a common standard for competence, the framework supports employers, installers, training providers, manufacturers, clients, and regulatory bodies in improving the quality and consistency of suspended ceiling installations. It helps reduce the risk of defects, promotes safe working practices, and supports compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and manufacturer requirements.
