Established in 2004 Wakefield based, JLS specialise in quality structural framing systems (SFS), drylining, suspended ceilings, plastering, rendering, fire protection and air sealing.


We are currently recruiting for a QS to be part of our estimating, commercial and project management team overseeing jobs from contract award or pre-start status to completion.   You will be site or office based as the business requires.


Role requirements:


A busy and varied role where you will take control of a number projects and contract.


Our businesses work with a variety of clients and manufacturers of which you will need to be familiar with or have the ability to become accustomed to dealing with to ensure, we as a business can offer and maintain a high level of customer service.


Key responsibilities:


•         Tender analysis

•         Contract understanding and analysis

•         Variations and project admin upkeep

•         Application for payment

•         Completion and submission of PQQs

•         Maintain and form relationships with clients

•         Wages/payment management and cost reporting

•         Maintain a material supplier’s database

•         Take off quantities/ Material ordering

•         Post tender negotiation/Commercial tasks

•         Some Health & Safety monitoring and administration

•         Final Account settlement

•         Managing Trainee QS


Key skills:

•         Degree calibre.

•         Preferred experience in drylining or internal fit out sector.

•         Good working knowledge of forms of contract currently used within the construction industry

•         Driving licence (essential)

•         Knowledge of standard forms of measurement

•         Business development skills/experience

•         Good IT skills/Excellent communication skills

•         High degree of personal motivation

•         Commercial acumen

•         Ability to work as part of a close-knit team and manage numerous activities / projects simultaneously – both short and long term.

•         Ability to work on own initiative.

•         Outgoing personality essential

•         Flexibility with regard to working across all areas of the business to meet the requirements of this challenging role.

•         Building and maintaining relationships
