FIS has an active and engaged H&S Leadership Group – beyond our efforts to support the industry in responding to COVID-19 focus is on key issues like dust, mental health and Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).  MSDs cost construction employers £646 million a year, they are  one of the most common causes of sickness, absence, and productivity loss at work – simply put, occupational health in our sector must improve.

“FIS have rose to the challenge presented by covid-19 and has been both an exceptional support to our team and in fighting our corner as a business. It has reinforced why we are members.”

A recent example of our work

The new FIS Best Practice Guide, Recommendations for the Safe Ingress of Plasterboard  has been developed by a working group of members from across the supply chain (from tier one contractors through to specialists contractors and suppliers) and aims to improve how plasterboard is delivered, moved and stored.  It identifies key problem areas and how risks can be reduced through simple steps and the supply chain working together more effectively. The guide covers homes, commercial, high-rise multi-occupancy, new builds and refurbishments.
