About the Fire Performance Products Forum

What is the FIS Fire Performance Products Forum?

The FIS Fire Performance Products Forum was formed to provide the sector with a place where product manufacturers, contractors and other relevant authorities could share information, and discuss the issues and impacts on the sector following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower.

The first meeting was held on 22 June 2017 where it was agreed to provide a technical resource for information, develop guidance notes and contribute to discussions and reviews as they develop.

Nigel M Morrey has agreed to chair this Forum and is Technical Director at Etex Building Performance Limited, which includes Promat, the specialist fire protection business. Nigel, who is a member of the ASFP Council and Strategy Group, said “Passive fire protection is an important element of making our buildings fire safe but must be considered as part of the overall holistic fire design which includes fire detection, fire suppression and the appropriate management of people as well as the ‘built-in’ passive fire protection including structural protection, compartmentation and fire stopping. Having over 25 years experience in the fire sector along with my formal academic and professional qualifications in Fire Safety Engineering, I am looking forward to the opportunity to work closer with the FIS management team to assist its members to gain a greater understanding of passive fire protection and what they can do both as individuals and businesses to achieve our common goal of saving lives and protecting property and assets.”
